Bill Gates on Raising Chickens

In his blog, gatesnotes, Bill Gates wrote about the benefits of raising chickens for poor people around the globe as part of his foundations' "coop dreams" partnership with Heifer International. "It’s pretty clear to me that just about anyone who’s living in extreme poverty is better off if they have chickens."

Betsy and I have long been supporters of Heifer International. They are highly effective at combatting poverty and malnutrition through the use of livestock. An initial investment in training and animals can have a multi-generational impact on a family and community. Fun to see Bill Gates getting behind them in such a big way.
