This morning was the first snowfall of the season.  I decided to make the kids a treat, French Toast.  We almost never have bread in our house, but I happened to have some  Bakers Field's Whole Wheat bread around and thought... 'what the heck.'

The problem is that we didn't have any milk.  But I know something even better than milk: BUTTER.

Ingredients

  • Bread, sliced
  • 2-3 eggs
  • 3-5 Tablespoons of melted butter
  • A few shakes of ground cinnamon
  • Dash of vanilla extract ( make your own!

Instructions

  1. Heat a heavy pan or griddle to med-high heat
  2. Add eggs to a small bowl and beat well
  3. Whisk/stir in the butter, cinnamon and vanilla
  4. Soak the bread briefly into the mixture
  5. Butter the pan/griddle well
  6. Fry the bread on the butter until golden brown and flip

You can of course add any topping you'd like: whipped cream, syrup, strawberries, jam of any sort, etc.

What are your favorite variations?
