This is the time of year when we let our hens take a break and molt – they stop laying eggs and focus on their bodies instead.  It is a natural cycle where they grow new feathers and recharge their bodies.  We won't go into what other large farms do about this...

What this means is that our subscribers are getting fewer eggs this month.  We really want to thank ALL of you for being so understanding.  Some of you even deferred your eggs until next month.  Again: Thanks!

This flip side of this, of course, is in the spring when they are laying eggs like crazy.

PS: Sorry to everyone about the pictures.  I told a friend that molting was like chickens being on vacation and I needed an image for an article.  He just sort of... ran with it...
