Nana's Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Sunrise Mill Heritage White Flour
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 stick melted butter
  • 1 stick softened butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 1.2 tsp dry active yeast
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz cream cheese

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Whisk together warm milk, melted butter, eggs, white sugar, pinch of salt, and dry active yeast in a large bowl.
  3. Fold in flour until a dough is formed. Cover with a towel and let rise for about 30 minutes.
  4. Mix together softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until well combined.
  5. Lightly flour a level surface and roll out dough until its about 1/4 inch thick and rectangular.
  6. Spread filling evenly over the dough. Tightly roll up dough, starting from the long side.
  7. Cut into 1 inch sections with a serrated knife or floss.
  8. Place cinnamon rolls in a greased 9x9 in baking pan or 9" cast iron skillet. Make sure to leave plenty of space between cinnamon rolls since they will expand as they cook.
  9. Bake for 20-30 minutes.
  10. While the cinnamon rolls are baking, cream together icing ingredients
  11. Allow cinnamon rolls too cool for a few minutes before topping with frosting and serving.
