Our First Early Access Produce Share!

First things first: THANK YOU!

Posted on Jan 27, 2021 by Jack McCann

Thank you for helping us figure out this whole produce delivery thing. We really have figured out how to work in a -10 degree freezer and pick all the best meats and bread and other frozen goodies. But somehow working in a fridge and handling produce seems like another world …. A nicer warmer world, but something new for sure!

Anyhow, we are so excited to build the year’s TC Farm produce CSA and there is no way without your help we could go from zero to delivering hundreds each week once the growing seasons starts. Thank you again for your feedback and commitment to these early access deliveries.

Feedback

This weeks’ food is a moderate-sized share to start. We didn’t take into account anyone’s household size request for this first delivery – we just wanted to make sure all the food showed up as fresh and pristine as possible.

Please take an inventory of your food and let us know how it looks.

  • How was our packaging?
  • How is the food itself?
  • What did you think of the contents?

Fill out the survey below and let us know everything you thought so we can get to work learning and improving!

The food itself

Since we are starting off every OTHER week, we wanted to include a mix of items which could last for a while in your fridge.

  • Carrots, squash and cara-cara oranges should all keep in your fridge for several weeks.
  • The squash (some are huge) can be used like a butternut and are actually just coming into their peak of flavor after harvest this fall (learn more here).
  • Overall your package should be somewhere around 17-20 pounds of organic produce and we will charge your TC Farm account $33 for the value of the product (+ free delivery).

What to expect:

During the early access, we will try to include some tips and recipes, but mostly our focus is on getting your feedback to refine the package contents, packaging and logistics. We will be phasing in more frequent deliveries, different sized packages, and ability to order the full line of TC Farm items along with your produce share.

Your Next Delivery:

Where possible, your regular monthly order will be delivered on the week of your produce share, directly to your home at no charge. We expect to start this for February, with your next produce share coming Feb 10th so :if you’re currently scheduled for a neighborhood pickup on another day, please plan on your delivery being moved to Feb 10th and direct to your house (we will confirm this the first week of February)

Keep those coolers and put them out the morning of the delivery to return for reuse.

Feedback

Our first delivery to the early access group was today!

At this stage, our main goal is to make sure we deliver fresh quality produce while we start our local growing season. We want to be ready for the summer!

Please keep us in the loop during the early access so we can keep refining and improving our delivery and the items included.
