Whether you're entirely new to gardening or just digging into the native plant world, this mini-mix will get you started without the road bumps!
These plants are quick to sprout and often set flowers in their first growing season: fast rewards for both beginners and pollinators.
The New to Natives Collection includes 6 species, 1 seed packet of each:
- Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa) - 100 seeds
- Side-oats Grama (Bouteloua curtipendula) - 300 seeds
- Partridge Pea (Chamaecrista fasciculata) - 250 seeds
- White Prairie Clover (Dalea Candida) - 750 seeds
- Spotted Bee Balm (Monarda punctata) - 500 seeds
- Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta) - 1,000 seeds
For a naturalized look, combine all seed packets to cover approximately 30-40 sq ft. Surface sow outdoors on a weed-free site in late fall. Mow throughout the first growing season. Expect first blooms in year 2. Alternatively, sow seed in rows in a garden setting in early spring or late fall. Thin seedlings and weed as expected with vegetable gardening. Transplant to permanent locations that fall or the following spring.
