Kick-start the growing season and help fuel local pollinators as they migrate back or come out of hibernation.

Spring bloomers are very important first food sources for these pollinators and the presence, or lack of, early-blooming natives can mean their very survival.

The Spring Blooms Collection includes 6 species, 1 seed packet of each:

  • Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis) - 250 seeds
  • Ozark Bluestar (Amsonia illustris) - 60 seeds
  • Pale Corydalis (Corydalis sempervirens) - 50 seeds
  • Lance-leaf Coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata) - 250 seeds
  • Foxglove Beardtongue (Penstemon digitalis) - 1,000 seeds
  • Golden Alexanders (Zizia aurea) - 150 seeds

For a naturalized look, combine all seed packets to cover approximately 25-30 sq ft. Surface sow outdoors on a weed-free site in late fall. Mow the first growing season. Expect first blooms in year 2 or 3. Alternatively, sow seed in rows in a garden setting in late fall. In spring, thin seedlings and weed as expected with vegetable gardening. Transplant to permanent locations that fall or the following spring.
