How to Extend Your Growing Season to Maximize Your Garden's Potential

Ready to keep your garden growing? Great news — planting season doesn’t end with spring! Knowing when to sow your seeds is the secret to a thriving garden, and guess what? There’s still plenty you can plant for a bountiful late-season harvest!

To figure out what you can still sow, just count backwards from your area's first frost date. For our Blaine warehouse in the Twin Cities, that’s around October 1. You can easily find your own frost date by Googling your zip code along with “first frost date.” Then, check your seed packet for the “days to maturity,” count back that many days from your frost date — and voilà! That’s your planting window for a successful harvest before the frost rolls in.

Still need seeds? You’re in luck! We’ve got a great selection of organic seeds perfect for sowing in early July — just in time for a late summer or early fall harvest. And don’t forget to peek at what you can still plant in early August for a delicious fall crop!

But don’t wait too long — our organic seeds are flying off the shelves- especially at these low prices! Even if you don't get to sowing again, these seeds can be stored in a cool, dark location and be sown next spring. We’re currently down to our last third of inventory, and we won’t be restocking until the 2026 growing season!
