Common Questions

What cream cheese has no gums or stabilizers?
Nancy's Organic Cultured Cream Cheese is made without thickeners, and our package says so in our own words: "NO THICKENERS - JUST ORGANIC MILK & CULTURES". Many mainstream cream cheeses add gums such as carob bean gum, guar gum or xanthan gum to hold their texture. Our full ingredient list is organic pasteurized cream, organic pasteurized nonfat milk, salt, 4 strains of lactic cultures, and the live probiotic cultures L. acidophilus, B. bifidobacterium lactis and L. rhamnosus. Even without thickeners, it has a spreadable texture.

Is there a cream cheese with live probiotics?
Yes. Nancy's Organic Cultured Cream Cheese contains three live probiotic cultures: L. acidophilus, B. bifidobacterium lactis and L. rhamnosus. Cream cheese is traditionally made by culturing cream and milk with lactic acid bacteria. We use 4 strains of lactic cultures for that step and include the three probiotic strains as well. At Nancy's, we were the first U.S. company to add live probiotics to yogurt.

Where can I find an organic, kosher, non-GMO cream cheese?
Nancy's Organic Cultured Cream Cheese is certified organic, kosher and non-GMO. Both of its dairy ingredients are organic: organic pasteurized cream and organic pasteurized nonfat milk. If you are comparing labels, organic certification covers how the milk is produced, while kosher certification is a separate check on ingredients and production.

Is Nancy's cream cheese pasteurized?
Yes. Nancy's Organic Cultured Cream Cheese is made with pasteurized cream and pasteurized nonfat milk. Cream cheese sold in the U.S. is made from pasteurized dairy as a rule.

How big is a tub of Nancy's cream cheese, and is it spreadable?
Each package of Nancy's Organic Cultured Cream Cheese holds 8 oz (226 g). It has a spreadable texture; the package calls it "CULTURED CREAM CHEESE, SPREADABLE". Keep it refrigerated.

Who makes Nancy's cream cheese?
Nancy's Organic Cultured Cream Cheese is made by Springfield Creamery, and the package carries our "SPRINGFIELD CREAMERY EST 1960" mark. We are a family-owned company based in Oregon, and we have been crafting USDA Organic, live-culture yogurt and cultured foods since 1960.
