Farmer Feature: Pleasant Valley Produce

Meet Pleasant Valley Produce, a family-run cooperative of Amish farmers in Baldwin, WI!

With generations of farming under their belts, Pleasant Valley is known for its wide variety of organic and non-GMO produce staples ranging from bok choy to rutabaga. Their commitment to organic farming practices ensures that their produce is not only fresh, but also healthy for you and the environment!

Read on to learn a bit more about these farms' operations.

Greenhouses

Since these farmers use limited technology and fossil fuels, their greenhouses operate through solar energy and furnace wood-burning.

Heated greenhouses allow for these farmers to provide early season offerings by planting in February and early March, while fields outside may still be frozen.

Storehouse

In the winter, ice blocks are harvested from Pleasant Valley pond and consolidated in insulated storehouses to create natural refrigeration and freezing -- no electricity needed!

Transportation

Every other week, these collection of farms deliver to a distribution center on horse-drawn buggies. As every buggie is loaded by hand, produce boxes are limited to a weight of 25 lbs. each.

TC Farm and Pleasant Valley

Through Pleasant Valley's wide variety of produce year-round, we're able to offer a diverse and consistent share of vegetables and staples during our CSA season and beyond.

We currently include many variations of their produce in our seasonal shares, consistently collaborating with Pleasant Valley due to their sustainable and earth-friendly farming practices.

This farming community has spanned generations -- we're incredibly proud to partner with this group so they can continue to nourish both our communities and their culture.

Support Pleasant Valley and other local farms in our group by subscribing to our produce boxes!
