Pesto- Garlic Scape - Seven Songs - 6oz jar

One six ounce jar of local Escape! Garlic Scape Pesto.

Use on pasta, pizza or as a marinade or topping on chops, fish or chicken. Great on eggs, potatoes, green beans, or for making an amazing spaghetti sauce!  Just add tomatoes (canned or fresh), cook on the stovetop, and serve!

This is made by Seven Songs Farm (part of our produce CSA this year). Melissa uses local organic garlic scapes from her farm and Open Hands Farm and combines them with all organic ingredients with the exception of the Pecorinocheese.  The sheep in Italy that provide the milk for this cheese graze on green pasture all season.

A garlic scape is part of the false seedhead that hard-necked garlic varieties create in June.  Garlic growers remove the scape on each plant so that the garlic bulb grows bigger.  Most scapes are composted, but Melissa decided to make a delicious pesto out of the scapes instead!  Support a no-waste economy, and try this pesto!
